Aftercare Info for BROWS

including MICROBLADING, COMBO BROWS, POWDER/OMBRE BROWS and any touch ups on brows.

Aftercare Instructions for Brows

Day 1- Absorb

Just try to remember these 3; ABSORB, WASH, MOISTERIZE - AWM

Absorb (Day of Procedure)

  • After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.
  • Do this every 5 minutes until the oozing has stopped.
  • Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

DAYS 1 - 10

DAYS 1 - 10

Until they are completely healed, you will want to avoid the following.

  • Applying makeup to the brows
  • Scratching and picking the brows
  • Use of exfoliants
  • Avoid sweating for 10 days
  • Avoid swimming and saunas for 10 days
  • UV exposure

WASH

DAYS 1 thru 7- Wash

 Wash (Days 1-7)

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)
  • Gently wash the area each morning and night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or baby shampoo.  With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area.
  • Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.
  • To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue.

DAYS 1 - 7

DAYS 1 thru 7 - Moisturize and Hydrate

Moisturize and hydrate (Days 1-7)

  • Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of the aftercare ointment 3 times a day with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.
  • Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.
  • NEVER put the product on a wet or damp tattoo.

Add a footnote if this applies to your business

Aftercare Reminders

Pretty Face Brows and Lips LLC by Jessica - Your Permanent Makeup Solution

Important Reminders

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep. Satin is ideal for healing process.
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure.  Wear a hat when outdoors.
  • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,
  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.
  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Important Instructions for Showering

  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair.
  • Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower.
  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Wet V.S. Dry Healing

This is where things get misconstrued. Many artists tell their clients not to wash the area for the entire healing time. Client’s mistake this for a “dry healing method” in actuality, this is what the different healing methods are:

The wet healing method - applying a product to the area after washing the area

The dry healing method - not applying any product to the area after washing the area.

But, what method actually promotes best healing?

The wet method of daily washing to reduce the buildup of bacteria and dead skin coupled with the application of an aftercare product allows the skin to heal fastest and so your beautiful artwork can show thru.

It can also help the production of collagen, a protein that is essential for the proper healing and regeneration of damaged tissue. The method consists of daily cleansing of the injured skin to prevent bacterial buildup, as well as the application of a healing ointment.

AFTERCARE GENERAL BASICS

  • Blot the treated area with a tissue for the first hour to remove the lymph fluid.

LIP BLush

How to Prepare for Lip Blushing

Days prior to receiving the lip blush tattoo treatment you'll want to stay hydrated. Exfoliate your lips and keep lips moisturized.

Take a break from vitamin c serums

Take a break from vitamin c serums, retinoids, and glycolic treatments, and chemical peels at least 2 weeks prior to your session and 2 weeks after. Any products that cause skin regeneration are magical of course, but not great for cosmetic tattoos. These serums should not be used on the lips during the healing process and you should avoid direct use to the lip tissue once healed as well.

No caffeine

No caffeine 24 hours, do not drink alcohol or take blood thinning medication 24 hours before appointment. This is actually a MAJOR step in preparing to have your lips tattooed, and also the most ignored. Its crucial to follow this step because these substances can cause much more sensitivity while being tattooed as well as cause you to bleed and bruise while being tattooed, which will directly effect your healed results.

Wait to receive fillers

Please wait 1 month after lip blush to receive fillers. (or 1 month prior) Lip Blush and Lip Filler are actually an amazing combo together. While Lip Filler gives you outward volume, Lip Blush gives you definition, color, and a subtle natural appearing size increase just by making the most of the lip tissue you were born with. The two together are the ultimate lip duo. We do also have many clients who no longer feel the need to receive lip filler after having their lips tattooed. For many clients lack of shape definition is huge and lip blushing solves that problem. Its subtle and natural looking so people look at you and don't suggest you've had anything done but just wonder how you obtained this beautiful natural glow.

Cold sores

If you suffer from cold sores (even just once) you must take an anti viral medication (like Valtrex) 2-3 days before, and 3-5 days after having your lips tattooed. This is huge. If you are someone who already gets cold sores, you have the herpes virus living dormant in your system. This means that injury done to your lip tissue can cause a cold sore outbreak. Lip Blush does not cause cold sores, but the injury to the lip tissue can cause the lips to break into a cluster of sores. This is an important step and will totally keep you from having an outbreak. Anti Virals must be prescribed by your doctor. Tattoo artists cannot prescribe medication, you will have to plan accordingly and obtain this medicine in a timely fashion before your appointment.

Acutane

Please wait 1 year after using Acutane to receive lip blush tattoo. Acutane causes a lot of dryness to the body, which can lead to patchy healed results. It's best to wait a year after your body has balanced back out to receive any form of tattooing.

Botox

Botox should be done 2 weeks prior to tattoo appointment or 2 weeks after lips are completely healed.

Laser Treatments

Laser Treatments must be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after Lip Blush Tattoo.

Prepare for Post-Care Now

Plan ahead. Upon booking your lip tattoo procedure you will be sent pre care, policies, and after care instructions. Make sure you read over instructions carefully. You want to plan ahead and maximize the most of this treatment. Following aftercare instructions are a huge part of what makes lip blush successful, be sure to follow.

Things to Avoid Before a Lip Blushing Procedure

Before your procedure you will have to be mindful of your lip condition. Things like overly chapped lips, sores, or irritation can affect the way the ink is implanted. You must take extra special care of your lips on the days leading up to the procedure.

Aftercare Basics

  • Blot the treated area with a tissue for the first hour to remove the lymph fluid.
  • Apply a very thin layer of the product with a cotton swab 3 times a day for 3 days.
  • Using the fingertips, gently wash the area with a non-scented soap or cleanser that your skin is already familiar with, morning and night, for 7 days.
  • Avoid washcloths and scratching or picking at the tattoo during the healing process.
  • Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, public pools, sweaty exercise, or submerging the tattoo in water for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for 2 weeks after the tattoo.
  • Avoid putting makeup on the area for the first week.
  • Avoid facials, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid scheduling any facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels

Aftercare

The typical healing period for permanent eyeliner is 5 to 7 days. During this time, you should take certain precautions to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of infection. When showering, tilt your head backwards to avoid getting shampoo or conditioner on the treated area. You can use the ointment or aquaphor provided to cover the eyeliner, but do not let water or sweat get on the area for at least 10 days. You can use oil-free wipes to clean your face, but avoid the eye area. It’s important to follow pre-care instructions to prevent bleeding and skin sensitivities during the procedure, which could dilute and expel the pigment color and lead to poor results.

  • Clean the treated area regularly as per the recommended schedule to prevent infections and to allow the area to breathe.
  • Use the healing gel as directed by your artist.
  • To reduce swelling, use disposable ice packs and sleep with your head slightly elevated for the first few days.
  • Wear sunglasses or a hat when going outside to shield your eyes from the sun.
  • To avoid contamination from old makeup, use new eye makeup when you are ready to wear it.
  • Change your pillowcase to reduce the risk of infection.
  • If possible, get new contact lenses to avoid infection.
  • Avoid direct water, cleaners, soaps, heavy creams, contact lenses, mascara, and any makeup for 10 days.
  • Don’t use an eyelash curler, saline eye drops or wash, or rub, pick, or scratch the area as it may lead to uneven healing and infection.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, heavy sweating, exercise, sports, sauna, swimming, steam rooms, jacuzzi, and long hot showers for 10 days.
  • Avoid using skincare or cosmetics, exfoliants, acids, and Vitamin A on or around the tattooed area for 30 days.
  • Use a fresh pillowcase and don’t sleep on your face for the first 10 days.
  • Don’t schedule facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, or laser treatments for at least 4 weeks.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol excessively and driving in open-air vehicles. Don’t perform heavy household cleaning tasks that may expose the area to bacteria.

Permanent Eyeliner Healing Information

Aftercare for permanent eyeliner is the most crucial part of the process. Although eyeliner is the easiest type of permanent makeup to heal, you cannot afford to be complacent. Failure to follow your makeup artist’s instructions can put you at risk of infections. But don’t worry, we will guide you through the general healing stages, healing methods, and everything else you need to know about permanent eyeliner aftercare before booking your appointment.

The healing process of permanent eyeliner is considered the simplest among all types of permanent makeup.

After the healing process, your eyeliner may appear lighter in color due to natural skin regeneration. Some areas may look uneven or patchy, which is normal. A complimentary follow-up session is included after 6-12 weeks from the initial session to fine-tune the results. Keep in mind that healed results vary per individual client, and additional sessions may be required to obtain optimal results.
